Sick of the split pin on your shimano (or magura) brake caliper? Here's a retaining bolt to use so your pads are more secure and changing them is easier.  Shimano note: These are only compatible with Shimano calipers that have a thread in the casting for the bolt. The thread is located on the outboard side of the brake caliper as illustrated by the photo below. If you have the thread you can use this bolt. Also note that these bolts also fit shimano "road" brakes (ultegra etc.). The standard bolt that comes with these brakes is slightly shorter and has a flat-head drive but these bolts also fit and it's much nicer to use a hex head bolt. Magura note: These can also be used on Magura MT5 and MT7 calipers. Here's a photo from a fantastic customer, Jacob, which shows what that looks like on an MT5.

This product listing is designed to solve our historic pet peeves with brake bleed kits: 1) You can't usually get replacement parts2) The limited selection of fittings with good brake bleed kits forces you to purchase multiple bleed kits if you want to bleed different brakes. If you're using the same oil, why not use the same core parts of a kit? By selling all useful parts for Mineral Oil bleed kits you should be able to replace worn parts and adapt your kit to work with other brakes. Got a brake hose which needs shortening? You'll need to get yourself an Olive & Connector to put the brake hose back into your brake lever. Here's an insert and olive that fits Tektro and TRP brakes. Technically, this is the 5.5 mm size, which works for older TRP and Tektro hydraulic brake systems. If you need 5.0 mm inserts (TRP DH-R EVO, E-MTB, Quadiem, Slate T4) please reach out to discuss.  It's worth having a hose clamp to help out with installing the needle, you can grab one here.

Read this before the description - Updated on 22 June 2026 A couple of months ago, we delisted this product after a customer brought an issue to our attention. The issue is with the 2-part syringes supplied with these kits. They have fairly high friction, which makes the bleed process more difficult than it should be. In practice, this means you need to push one syringe while pulling the other at the same time. The lower sealing area of the plunger can also introduce small air bubbles into the fluid. In our experience, this can be managed by keeping the syringes vertical throughout the bleed process, allowing any bubbles to rise to the top of the syringe rather than being pushed into the brake system. You can still use this bleed kit to get a high quality bleed, but the user experience is not up to the standard. We've had repeated requests to bring this kit back, so we've decided to relist it for now, despite the current syringes being less than ideal. The proper fix is for us to source different 3-part syringes that are compatible with mineral oil, which has turned out to be more difficult than expected. If you purchase this bleed kit, we'll automatically send you a set of replacement syringes once we've sourced the new version. We're aiming to have these available by the end of August, but we can't guarantee that timeline.   Normal product description Getting shops to bleed your brakes can be bloody expensive. Non-compatible tubing swells after months and will only do limited bleeds before splitting. Kit includes: 2x 24mL 2-part syringes with Mineral oil compatible plungers   1x Torx T10 wrench The fitting options are: 2x Threaded: For SRAM DB8 brakes 1x Threaded + 1x Bleeding Edge (large): For SRAM Maven & Motive brakes 2x Threaded + 1x Bleeding Edge (large): For all SRAM Mineral Oil brakes  Other notes You will also need a bleed block to perform the service You can also add mineral oil if you need some. We sell a red coloured mineral oil which can be used with SRAM mineral oil brakes. From a chemical perspective, our fluid is compatible and won't cause seal swelling (which is the concern of off-brand fluids). The large bleeding edge fitting for SRAM mineral oil brakes is different to the original bleeding edge fitting, which is used for SRAM DOT 5.1 brakes. Non-compatible tubing swells after months and will only do limited bleeds before splitting. These kits include all you need to bleed Hayes Dominion Brakes as well as other Hayes brakes using M5 threaded fittings. They are also compatible with all older type Formula hydraulic brakes (Oro, C1, R1, R0, K24, K18…). They are not compatible with Formula Cura or any other mineral oil brake.All kits include: 2x 30mL 3-part syringes with DOT-compatible plungers1x Torx T10 wrench2x threaded fittings Other notes You will also need a bleed block to perform the service You can also add 250mL of Liqui Moly DOT 5.1 fluid if you need some. The shelf life of this is 12 months from the date of opening. Please ignore the cheeky "expiry" date printed on the bottle by the manufacturer, this seems disingenous to us.  Our favourite part of these kits is the tubing, which can be clamped without being a bodybuilder - if you've ever used an avid kit you'll know what we are talking about...
